Questions about Chicken Soup dog food?

I was thinking about switching to the Chicken Soup dog food. My mutt is currently on Wellness dry food and Blue Buffalo canned food. I was thinking about switching to Chicken Soup canned and dry food. Is there puppy senior, and adult varieties? Is Chicken Soup dog food a good food? Any comments (good OR bad) from the people who feed it?
I am changing because he doesn’t like Wellness that much (he’s the pickiest dog in the world), and he isn’t too happy with Blue Buffalo, either, and I try to afford it, but it is really, really, really, hard.

I’ve never even heard of Chicken Soup Dog Food!

The best thing to feed your fur baby is Science Diet by Hills. You can get it at local pet stores and your vet.

Chicken Soup is a pretty good food.

There are several varieties, you can view them here http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/products/dogs/dry_food/

contrary to the other poster, Science Diet is a mediocre food at best. Vets recommend it because Hills sponsor the vet. schools and they learn little about nutrition in school. Now, about the food in question. It is an OK food. Not bad but not as good as Wellness or Innova. If you are looking to switch think about Innova or Innova Evo(no grains) or consider one of the Merrick dry foods. also very good. I used to recommend Canidae, but they just switched their formula and it is actually now very similar to Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul. So my recommendation is stay with what you have or rotate among Innova, California Natural, Artemis, Merrick.

Chicken Soup isn’t bad….But I am not crazy about the diamond products (it is owned by diamond.) They do have Puppy, Adult, and Senior in their cans. In dry food they have puppy adult and senior as well as a large breed line. You are on really good foods now. I think you should stick with them.

There is a puppy, senior and adult varieties. I feed my dog the regular adult.
When there was the big dog food recall I got all anal about researching foods and their ingredients and I ended up choosing Chicken Soup because of what it’s made with. And I am aware they had their own recall a few years back but it’s been taken care of since then. My dog seems content with the food and eats it readily (though she much prefers the Chicken Soup for cats that I feed the felines).
My sister’s dog was a victim of the food poisonings and because of that I wanted to be sure my girl would be ok. She hasn’t had any issues with Chicken Soup and is healthy and active. That’s enough for me.

i feed my dogs all natural dog food. wellness and california natural. you should switch to an all dry diet too. he doesn’t need the canned food its just extra fat that might make him overweight later. all natural food doesn’t have all the extra junk they don’t need, it’s better for them.

When I was researching new dog food for my dogs just about 6 months ago, Chicken Soup was one that was on my list. I think it is a good food, although I decided to go with Merrick.

I feed my dogs Chicken Soup, canned and dry. My dogs are doing superb.

Why do you want to change to a different brand? How is your dog doing on the brands you are currently feeding him? If your dog is doing just fine, then I see no reason to change. Wellness and Blue Buffalo both are excellent foods.
