Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul is a pretty darn good cat food for the price. Here are the ingredients for the adult formula if you’d like to see:

Chicken, chicken liver, salmon, turkey, duck, chicken broth, whole grain brown rice, white rice, oatmeal, potatoes, barley, egg product, guar gum, flaxseed meal, kelp, carrots, peas, apples, dried skim milk, cranberry powder, rosemary extract, parsley flake, taurine, dried chicory root, carrageenan gum, vitamin A acetate, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, niacin supplement D-calcium pantothenate, riboflavin supplement, thiamine mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin B12 supplement, biotin, folic acid, copper sulfate, calcium iodate and sodium selenite. http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/products/cats/canned_food/adult_cat_formula/

I’m not too crazy about the addition of the white rice in this formula, but it’s way far down the ingredient list. I’m digging the multiple, diverse protein sources. Not bad at all!

Yes, its quality food at a little more reasonable price then Natural Balance. I would also recommend you add in some quality canned food too as its better then feeding all dry.

I looked up the ingredients and it looks very good. The only drawback is the rice and oatmeal, but they are far down on the ingredient list. Natrual Balance Ultra, one I use has way down the list too, but I assume it is a very small amount.

One grievance I have with even manufacturers of excellant cat food is the compulsion to add ingredients that make it look go to the human consumer but do nothing for the feline one!

I get annoyed when I see carrots, sweet potatoes, blueberries and so forth listed. At least they are only present in minute amounts. If they induce someone to buy a better food I guess its a good trade-off.

So, I do think it is a good food but I don’t know what it costs. I have a 13oz. can of Evo, an excellant food, here and it was $1.69.
